lamp design

This lamp was designed as part of a three piece furniture set. The stool was designed by Zoë Faylor and the coat rack by Emanual Papageorgiou.

Our focus was minimizing the use of material, finish, and additional hardware. There is a graciousness and sensitivity to their connections. In an instant the components can come together or go their separate ways. A low branch from the coat rack slides into the top of the stool, and the lamp snaps onto another branch using its magnetic base.

I was interested in a exploring curved forms and how to create them with minimal materials and fasteners. I was also intrigued by how materials disperse light and the possibility of a multi-directional lamp.
